Painted Wood Female Figure Sculpture by Tom de Munk-Kerkmeer, Australia, 1990
An expressive carved wooden sculpture of a female figure by Australian-Dutch artist Tom de Munk-Kerkmeer, created in 1990. The work combines a stylized female torso with an elongated, contemplative face, creating a striking balance between figurative expression and abstract sculptural forms.
Beautifully hand-carved from wood and finished in subtle shades of pale blue, soft green, cream and muted pink. The delicate painted surface contrasts with the natural warmth of the exposed wood, giving the sculpture a distinctive character and wonderful depth. Mounted on a cylindrical wooden base, the work has a strong vertical presence and an almost totemic quality.
A highly decorative and individual sculpture, combining expressive craftsmanship, organic forms and a beautifully aged surface.
